Meth Single-Wipe Multiple Locations Sample
A single swab is used to collect samples from multiple locations (up to five within the same area) and sent for laboratory analysis. This cost-effective screening method detects potential contamination by providing a combined YES or NO result for methamphetamine presence across all sampled locations.
Multiple locations (up to five) within the same space (e.g., a vehicle or room) are sampled using a single swab. The swab is then sent to the laboratory for analysis. This method offers a cost-effective way to screen a larger area for potential methamphetamine contamination, providing a general assessment before deciding if further targeted individual testing is needed.
The Meth Single-Wipe Multiple Area Sample will return a simple Yes or No result, indicating whether methamphetamine residue is present. However, if the result is Yes, it’s important to understand that the lab cannot determine the level of contamination at each individual location sampled. This is because all the areas are wiped with the same swab and tested as one combined sample.
To identify which specific areas are contaminated and assess the contamination levels at each location, individual or localized sample tests would need to be done for each area sampled during the composite test.
